Chocolate Hazelnut Recipe (Preparation Time : 30 min, Baking Time : 10 min, Garnishing : 10 min)

Ingredients :

1 cup is equivalent to around 75 gm

For Chocolate Sauce Mix:

1/2 medium sized bar of chocolate (such that if powdered it comes to about 3/4th of a cup)

1 cup milk

1/4th cup non-salted butter (can use oil if butter is not available)

3/4th cup sugar

For Cake Mix:

3 cups all purpose flour (wheat flour can be used for healthier alternative)

1.5 cups chocolate powder or coco powder (can skip this if not available)

1.5 tbsp baking powder

1 tsp vanilla essence (optional)

For Chocolate Icing

The remaining 1/2 bar (medium sized) of chocolate

2 tbsp of water

For Garnishing:

Broken hazelnuts or any nuts of your choice

Recipe:

1. Take a sauce pan on medium heat and add all the ingredients for chocolate sauce in the pan. Once everything melts and mixes well (takes about 10 minutes) set aside the chocolate sauce to cool.

Taste the chocolate sauce for sweetness. If you feel you need it to be more sweet add more sugar while heating.

2. Mix well the cake mix in dry form and then pour the chocolate sauce and mix to form the cake batter. To reach the thick smooth runny consistency add two tablespoons of water at a time if needed while whisking.

3. Once the desired consistency of the cake batter is reached, pour the batter into a glass or oven safe bowl. Make sure that the bowl is greased with oil thoroughly before pouring the cake batter into it.

4. Pre-heat the oven and place the bowl for 10 min at 300 degrees centigrade. Do check by poking the center of the cake with a knife after every 5-7 minutes. Remove the bowl from the oven once the cake is ready (the knife should come out clean) and set it to cool completely.

5. Take the remaining half chocolate bar for the icing and break it into pieces using your hand. Put the chocolate pieces in a microwave safe cup and add water as mentioned in the ingredients. Microwave the cup for 1 minute at 900 degrees centigrade.

6. Take out the cup and mix the melted chocolate well to form a smooth paste. The chocolate icing is ready.

7. Once the cake has completely cooled down, remove the cake into a plate. Apply the chocolate icing using a spoon on the top and on the sides of the cake. Garnish the cake with broken hazelnuts or any nuts of your choice.
