This is one of the easiest chicken curry to cook. If you have forgotten to marinate chicken overnight or do not have time to do so even then this recipe tastes great. And the best part is you do not need to spend a lot of time near the stove too. So let’s get started.
Ingredients (Preparation time : 10 min|Cooking time : 35 min) :
– 1 kg chicken (medium sized pieces with bones)
– 1/4th tsp turmeric
– 3 tbsp ginger garlic paste
– 1 tsp cumin powder
– 2 tsp coriander powder
– 1 tsp garam masala powder
– 1 tbsp chicken masala powder
– 1 tsp red chilli powder
– 2-3 big onions
– 1-2 tomatoes
– 4 green chillies
– 5 cloves
– 1 inch cinnamon
– 2 cardamoms seeds
– 6-7 whole black pepper
– 2 fist full coriander leaves
– salt to taste
– 3-4 tbsp vegetable oil
Recipe:
1. Take a deep bottomed kadai and add oil to it. Add all the chicken pieces to the kadai and fry over medium-low flame for 10-15 min.
2. Add all the dry spices to the chicken while frying that is salt, red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, chicken masala powder, garam masala powder, turmeric and ginger garlic paste.
3. While the chicken is frying grind a smooth paste of onions with 2 green chillies and the whole garam masala that is black pepper, cloves, cinnamon and cardamom.
Also, make a smooth tomato puree separately and keep aside.
4. Once the chicken is fried add to it the onion paste and tomato paste. Add two slit green chillies and the coriander leaves. Add salt to taste. Give everything a good mix and cover the kadai. Let the chicken cook for a good 15-20 min on a medium-low flame.
Stir the chicken in between to mix the masala well. There is no need to add extra water as the chicken and the masala paste itself will form a thick gravy.
Enjoy your chicken curry with some steam rice.
