Uggani is a puffed rice dishthat can be had for breakfast or as a snack. We added this recently into our rotation and I love it. It is a tasty dish that comes together pretty quickly and worth the attempt.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup roasted chana dal
- 2-3 dry red chilli – based on spiciness
- 1 medium onion – chopped
- 1 medium tomato – chopped
- 1 green chilli – finely chopped
- Roasted peanuts – 4 tbsp
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
- Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
- Oil – 4 tbsp
- Murmura – 3.5 cups
- Salt – to taste
Recipe
- Add 2 tbsp of oil to a kadhai and add chana dal and red chili to it and roast until dal turns light brown
- Add a sprig of curry leaves to this.
- Let it cool and grind to a coarse powder
- Add the remaining oil to a kadhai and add the chopped onion to it.
- Soak the murmura for about 4-5 mins
- Add roasted peanuts to the oil and chopped onion
- Add salt to this and chopped tomato to this. Cook until onion and tomato mixture soften
- Squeeze the soaked murmura out of water and add it to the onion and tomato mixture now
- Mix it all well and cover to cook on low flame for about 3-4 mins
- Add the ground chana dal powder to this, mix and cover to cook on low flame for about 2 minutes
- Uggani done!
